DraiKo So let me get this straight. I post about an error for a fantastic piece of software that had ZERO issues until a MINOR update. An issue that COULD. HAVE. BEEN. SOLVED. SO. EASILY. by simply allowing downloads of previous versions of the app. Four updates later, I get a response of "Well I guess DeoVR just won't be compatible with your hardware anymore. It's a normal thing for that to happen in the tech/ software industry."
Way to dodge the question I've asked earnestly several times on this support forum. Why can't we download earlier versions???? I think MPort88 has the answer, it's to save a breadcrumb of space on company's servers.
I'm part of many VR video sharing/ discussing forums and servers and I used to recommend DeoVR above all else, but I'll be sure to post screenshots of your message confirming that the dev team's attitude is "Well, if our update happened to break the software for your equipment, I guess your equipment is just too old and we won't be fixing it cause that's just how things go in the tech industry. And no, you can't have the version that used to work perfectly, because no reason."
I don't like writing salty replies and bad-mouthing developers, but the whole attitude behind your response just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If you don't want to bother with making older versions available because your company doesn't think it's worth the hassle, just be honest with us about that instead of implying that it's a normal thing to do, because it's not. Most other software in my Steam library has at least a few available previous versions on SteamDB, and as MPort88 pointed out those "renowned tech companies" you mentioned make old versions available as standard practice too.
The one saving grace is that you're not charging money for the software that you'll only "selectively" be providing support for.
