Images and Videos Skewed by default now?

So why cant we have a default setting for all videos yet??? Or a default setting for the different types of 2d videos it chooses your settings for which only is suitable for about 10% of the videos I view.

I have my own default setting but I have to press a button to reset it to my settings for EVERY video because it uses your bad defaults rather than mine.

My settings work for 90% of videos. I like a bit of curve and a bit of zoom. But your settings are exteme. For portrait videos it is totally useless honestly, even my own default settings dont fix it, but it is at least slightly better than whatever it is you guys have going on.

I don't know why this was changed in the first place. The previous default behavior seemed to be fine. I don't recall seeing many complaints about it. Yet it stays because they got some positive feedback.

Just tried 14.9.3253 So now 2D videos are default to some settings that are not the zero default nor my default settings. It I set a video to my defaults or zero when I go back to the video it goes back to the unknown default.

bncecil There haven't been changes in the latest version that should affect zoom settings.
Can you please send a screenshot of the issue and the video link?

All i see is negative feedback about the changes.. You still cant even have your own custom settings. You have to apply those custom settings per each video and click reset to defaults every single video you watch.. Cool have your default settings ... they are aweful... let us choose our own also. It confuses me that something so simple seems to be really hard for DeoVR to understand.

We need global default settings that WE set. Not some random settings by DEOVR. Or just change it back to what it was before.. which was way better.

evilmonkeyturds Please note that player settings could be set as default for all videos, if user will click "Set as default" button after applied changes. Could you please describe the issue in more details?

TonyDeoVR Check the previous messages, please. This has already been forwarded to the devs on April 15th, almost 3 months ago! It's being ignored for that long.

Settings don't "hold" between images/videos. I define "set as default". Apply set defaults to video or image. Open a different video or image and apply my defaults. Open the previous video or image and it's back to some universal default aspect ratio, size, position etc that is neither my defined default nor the zero default.

yes, those settings either aren't saved or don't apply across videos

Load several flat mono videos (3-5 will do) to headset aspect ratio doesn't matter but 16:9 more obvious.
Open video in DeoVR - in playback settings transform set screen size to 100, curve to 0, height to +14 and set as default. play next video advancing from controller or from playback control panel, not from filelist (important) applying default transform, repeat for all videos.
Advance to a video where custom default transforms were applied - aspect ratio will be squeezed to something like 3:4

Notes: further investigation
It seems when switching videos (or images) in folders (previous/next) via controller or playback controller panel the video always plays back with the incorrect "squeezed" aspect ratio. This can be corrected by apply the transform defaults or clicking twice on the flat or mono buttons on the control panel.
Opened videos/pictures directly from the filelist usually display with the correct aspect ratio.

bncecil Just wanted to share that I agree with all, and I am following. These issues are rather infuriating. I went to HereSphere, at least for video in the meantime - I really hope DeoVR can get back to being the best for images on the Quest 3.
