philpw99 If you are going to chime in it's wise to at least have some clue what you are talking about instead of none.
Let's dissect your post:
philpw99 It's more absurd that people still want a free App from Steam, which claimed to become a online streaming platform, able to play without Internet connection.
DeoVR didn't "become a online streaming platform". They launched an online streaming platform in addition to their video player app. DeoVR the video player app and DeoVR the online streaming platform are two very different things.
Features of the video player app that don't depend on an internet connection to work shouldn't require an internet connection in order to be used. That is not absurd, in fact, it's a standard expectation of any well-designed app.
philpw99 The reality is, every App today requires Internet connection.
Every app? Not even slightly accurate. The video player app on my smartphone doesn't require an internet connection to work, neither does the calculator app, calendar app, camera app, photo gallery app, voice recorder app, music player app, map app... you get the idea. Some of those apps might require an internet connection for certain features (e.g. to sync photos to the cloud or download map data) but they all operate just fine without an internet connection for the features that don't require an internet connection.
philpw99 Steam itself requires Internet.
No it doesn't.

No it doesn't.
Most of it's features require an internet connection but the features that don't (e.g. alarms or using as a Bluetooth speaker) can still be used when there isn't a connection.
philpw99 My light-bulb control program requires Internet.
Doubt it.
Most likely you just need a local WiFi connection to control the bulbs and not an internet connection.
philpw99 So why people are surprised that an online streaming VR player also requires Internet?
It's not a video player that is exclusively for online streaming. It has features that are expected to work offline.
