Hi DeoVR team,
I’ve been a loyal DeoVR user for years, currently using it with my Pico 4 VR headset. Up until the most recent updates, everything worked flawlessly for many years, and I’ve been incredibly happy with the experience. It's been amazing!! However, some of the recent changes have introduced significant issues that are hard to ignore.
Removal of 6DoF for Still Images
Why was 6DoF functionality for still images disabled? This feature was a key part of my workflow, allowing me to create and lock transparent images in the 6DoF environment. Removing it feels like a step back. Can you please consider restoring this feature? I simply can't understand why something like this was removed.
Conflict with VLC Audio Playback
I’ve started experiencing an issue where VLC audio or music stops whenever a video begins playing in DeoVR. For years, I’ve enjoyed pairing VLC’s background music or ambience with DeoVR videos, and this integration has always worked perfectly. Now, it seems like DeoVR is automatically pausing VLC, which significantly disrupts the experience. Can this be addressed? Some apps seem to still work. But some do not. Very strange.
Stability and Video Playback Problems
This is the most concerning issue, by far - overall system stability is compromised. Videos that previously worked perfectly—including standard 2D and various SBS 3D formats with different bitrates—are now problematic.
Some videos crash the app outright.
Others are flagged as incompatible despite working flawlessly before.
Switching between videos that previously worked often leads to crashes or freezes.
These issues make the app feel unstable compared to the reliable experience I’ve come to expect.
I’ve always believed in DeoVR’s potential, and I appreciate the work the team has done to make it one of the best VR players out there. That’s why it’s so disappointing to see these regressions. I’m hopeful that these issues can be resolved in a future update, restoring the functionality and stability I’ve come to rely on.
Thank you for your hard work, and I look forward to seeing improvements. If these problems persist, I may need to explore other options, but I’m rooting for DeoVR to return to its former excellence.
