DeoVR App Release 13.15: Camera information, 6DOF disabled by default

Put me down to to restore the earlier behavior in regards to "UI now recenters automatically upon appearing"

One of the features that put DeoVR ahead of the other video players was the ability to reposition the UI to keep it from blocking the view of the video. While you can still reposition it you have to do it every time with every video. This spoils the UX (User eXperience).

I also would like the earlier behavior restored, to disable the UI auto-recenter upon appearing, please. Or at least give a toggle option as to whether auto-recenter is enabled or disabled.

Sometimes I wish we could just easily restore earlier versions of software, rather than endure these annoying changes forced on us and having to wait until it's reverted in a future update.

The passthrough layers are not functioning as expected when transitioning between layers 1, 2, and 3, even when they are activated. When attempting to toggle the next 2 or 3 layers, the settings are being copied from the previous layer. As a result, it is currently not possible to use passthrough with more than one layer.

that said, THANK YOU DEOVR for fixing the 'file projection settings not saving things. That was such a pain, and I am happy to report it is working fine now. Thank you again!

Kieshi Thanks for the reply! I am using only Pico 4, nothing out of the ordinary. I boot up the device, select DeoVR from the list of apps and that's it. I was trying the latest update from the store, 13.15.

I do have updates pending of the pico firmware itself, but I am not ready to update yet, as it is a pain to downgrade again and I have not put effort into checking what has changed.

If there are no others reporting the same crashes I suggest to not put any more effort into it for now. I am content with using an older version, seeing the feedback on the new version I would not want to use 13.15 anyway, plus I need the "Open in browser" feature to work 🙂.

I remember reading in one of the recent release notes that a bug was fixed where “Show Flat” would get disabled randomly in the app. I am on 13.15 on Quest 3 and that bug is still there. If you have “show Flat” enabled, then click on a person’s username to go to their channel, “Show Flat” gets disabled.

And can we have semi-transparent UI?

Quest 3 user here, I hate this recentering. One of the things I absolutely loved about DeoVr was that I could point with my headset and hit the 3 line button on my controller and have the video and controls centered for my view. Now it seems for both the controls and video are affected by some kind of global locking points that widely break the aforementioned feature. Please add configuration to turn this off.

yarshal we are looking into making this optional, so you would be able to make switch it off in global settings. Will notify when we have it in place

+1 on the bug @Psokol reported. The multi-layer passthrogh acts weird after this update.

For the recentering, we will make this autorecenter optional, you will be able to switch if off in global settings.

Came here to also complain about the (not optional) recentering. I skip around in most videos and sometimes want to see what's going on in the video while seeking, hide the interface, watch a bit, open the player ui again to find a good point in the video. For me the recentering adds an extra step because the default location blocks a big part of the video.

I found a few other things that might not only bother me.

DeoVR always starts on its homepage, not on the one I visited last, wasn't like that in the previous version I had
Stereo with OpenUI option always resets to ON after selecting/skipping new video. Local, online and DLNA

DLNA streaming:

Directoy with > 100 videos. I watch, or better said skip through, a few videos. After each one I'll go back to the Listview. After a few times the app freezes in that Listview completely. Never expereienced that in previous versions with streaming from "large" directories.

Sometimes I get some network connection error or "Thread was beeing aborted -> Thread was beeing aborted". With those errormessages I can still scroll around or press B and return to my last station, but I can't select/watch anything
App freezes sometimes when watching a video, going to options, and then coming back. Doesn't matter if >100 videos in directory or < 10 or when you switch to watching online and come back to the Listview.

I reinstalled the app, hoping these issues would disappear. Instead i got a new bug that only appears on my local Filesystem.
First start of App - window appears, asking if I want to grant complete acces to all files, including non media, refering to a symbol in the top right corner if I wish to do so. I don't. But now with every directory change this window appears again, asking if I want to grant acces and I don't have the option to say "no, stop asking"

Oculus Quest 2 - DeoVR 13.15
Got to admit I don't know which Deo version I had installed before it updated itself. I usually don't allow autoupdates on any of my devices for...reasons 😃

Hope you can reproduce these errors and maybe find a solution.
