Add Sharpness Adjustment - PLEASE !!!

Thanks for adding that sharpness settings - the PQ on Quest2 is MUCH MUCH better now! Is there any reason if it is set even at just 0.5 the framerate always to drops from 120 to 60 - no matter the video ? I know it loads the VR set GPU but it strange always drops to exactly to 60 not to 70 or 40 for example ... Can you check this please ?

Hi, is this functionality already implemented? I have seen the setting in past releases but now cannot see it in 10.1.

It was quite helpful as some of the videos are too blurry by default so I used it often.

i second that tari is saying. i loved the sharpen feature - but it´s gone with 10.1
i´d like to see it come back ;-)

Just go to DeoVR => Settings => Developer and enable the "Dynamic mesh"
Then the sharpness slider will apper in the image control settings . It took me a half of a day to find that out ...

Unfortunately if make any adjustment at the sharpness the framerate still drops from 120 to 60 fps ... It drops even more if adjust Hue and Saturation - then goes under 40fps for 8K vids ... Bad software optimisation i guess ...

Or you can use fholger's excellent FSR modded openvr_api.dll
Not only you can boost the frame rate, scale up the rendered image, you can also set the sharpness.
For my GTX1080, I use NIS to scale up the image (2x). The effect is better picture and color with similar frame rate.
Give it a try, you will like it.

The other plugin developed by fholger, openvr_foveated. Doesn't do any improvement, and the frame rate drops. So I don't recommend it. Maybe someone else find it useful for his own case.

What VR headset do you use and what are your main settings in "openvr_mod.cfg" file for best results ?

Have you tested fholger's vrperfkit mod by any chance? Wondering if it works better.

I set the scale to 0.5 (2x). It works well especially for the low resolution 2048p VR videos, because they are scaled up nicely by this plugin.
I also set the "Alt" as the required key to enable/disable the effects. So when I am playing a high-resolution 3840p video I can disable the scaling with Alt-F1.
Other settings remain the same. Can't say this is the best, but it works for me.
I am using a Pimax 5k super.

I am waiting for Nvidia's Super Resolution for Video next month.
It uses AI to scale up 1080p videos to 4k.
I actually want it to scale up 4k videos to 8k.
Compare to that the FSR is not so impressive.

A little more update from PC gamer, that the new AI tool will upscale videos between 360p to 1440p.
So for now it seems it cannot upscale 4k video to 8k, but it surly can upscale many 1080p 3D video to 4k, at a much faster rate than the regular AI upscale tools.
I do have a small collection of 1080p 3D videos that needs to be upscale this way. So it's good news anyway.
Meanwhile I am using the "regular" AI tool to upscale Avatar 3D 1 from 1080p to 8k. It'll need 271 hours.
