PavleDeoVR SMB/DLNA/local playback support probably won't becoming back any time soon
It's fine. I knew it already. It's good that DeoVR can keep the DLNA feature today, and fixed its bugs in the last update. I know a way to do DLNA with my cellphone and travel router. It's just a little complicated, not for everyone. So what I said just meant, "If you can implement SMB, that'll be great ! If not, I can adapt."
PavleDeoVR local playback configurations are usually very personalized/customized, making them difficult to troubleshoot on an individual basis.
Same thing with online streaming, or perhaps even harder due to the network/server speed fluctuation.
PavleDeoVR There's also the factor that some users misuse it for pirating purposes
Well, I download VR videos from the paid websites. They allow me to save the videos of chosen quality locally, and they recommend using DeoVR to watch them locally. So if you don't support local playback, those website will be in a difficult situation: they probably need to increase their servers capacity 10 times to do pure online playback.
Plus, when I am traveling, most places don't have the bandwidth to stream online VR videos. If I cannot watch the videos I downloaded legally during traveling, then what's the point of paying the websites to get the videos?
Also, one of the benefits of "Premium" account of DeoVR.com is to allow us to download those VR videos locally. Now if DeoVR doesn't want to fix the problems of local playback, then that "Premium" feature is not so good.
