Hi all, the 6DoF is crazy cool. I am using a Pico 4. I tried to practice setting it up, by cutting out some furniture and rather attractive female models to .png files, and overlaying them on a green screen in photoshop. The furniture is so my wife can understand that, yes, this thing can actually do more than porn. LOL.
Anyway,
Once saving the object/person over a green screen as .jpg it loads perfectly into DeoVR, and the chromakey/passthrough thing works flawlessly. The 6DoF is really, really cool, too. But I struggle with trying to figure out how to "lock" objects in the correct location of the passthrough environment, if that makes sense. Through experimenting, I have realized that if you 'reset' the view in DeoVR, it will reset the location of the 6DoF datum point to where you're looking, but then this also resets the scale. In other words, you can't trim up/down, zoom in/out etc when you're locked in the 6DoF mode. Basically, it just feels like it needs a trim option where you can adjust where the object's lock points are. I hope I am making sense - this is something that is much, much easier to understand if you're experiencing it than it is to explain it.
For instance, if I am standing, in a large boundary area, look at the floor, and have a transparent photo of a chair - If I enable x,y,z axis 6DoF (at any speed beyond 0), it will lock out all scale and movement options, and place the virtual chair where it believes it should go, relative to the 0,0,0 I am assuming. But the issue is, often this is not far away enough, or too close, or in some cases, it's floating above the floor, stuff like this. Now, if I take 10 minutes to like, you know, squat down and experiment with walking around the room and resetting it a billion times, I can eventually find something that looks pretty good. But it is a very painful process.
Is there something I am missing? I couldn't find any documentation on it, really. It's an amazing thing! It does really work well. But it's just setting it up is difficult. I even thought, maybe there is some default or 'natural' resolution I have to load the photos in as? They're all 2D and different resolutions. Like I said, it works well for every photo, but just setting up where to 'lock' the object is challenging. Thanks all!!
