"point-of-view (POV) recordings." is this for making VR films or industry applications? it is going to be quite expensive. what is it target market?

A few industries I can think of:

Sight-seeing. Which let you be in front of some famous landmarks without really being there.
Real-estate. Videos showing tours of home, inside and out.
Adventure from home. Take a roller-coaster ride without really be in one.
The adult industry. R18 and above.
Remote immersive meeting.
VR movies, which this rig should be really focusing in. This is a brand new world that few are in.

Existing ones on the market ?? I don't get it, what existing ones?
There are plenty of 360 cameras. There are ultra-expensive ones that can do both 360 and 180.
But there is only a few dedicated vr180 high-end 8k+ rigs.
The Canon R5C plus the dual fisheye lens seems the only one I can find available for sale.

philpw99 i apoligize if i had been too rude. of course it is cool to develop such an high end 180 vr camera at potentially lower price. New players are always welcome. i would rather to have many products to choose from and let people try different designs. when i said existing ones. i was having the following in head.

No of course I am not involved. It's just that I have been waiting for a consumer grade VR180 camera for a long time but there is none.
This 10k rig, and the cameras you listed are not for prosumers. Even the Canon R5C combo is quite steep. This is why I am not glad to see "the existing ones on the market". It's not because of your words, but the cruel reality.

philpw99 i made one from two runcam 4k cameras. total cost is below 300 dollars. if you are ok with runcam 4k quality. it is a good solution.

vr4everyone Runcam can only do 4:3 at 1440, and 4K is 16:9... not so good for vr180

Or a VR movie or tour which shows from the point of view of the main character.
It's like a real-life FPS, should be very exciting.

Hawkeyes do have a thumb 4:3 with 4K, with no Gyro file... I have successfully developed a 10K rig with 2 Lumix GH5 cameras, you can check out footage on DEO, channel "SEA Immersion" , sorry, there are many out-of-focus videos... I was lazy, was showing on YouTube with 4K... Do want to redo them all with AI improve to 12K...
