My latest video looked fantastic when I uploaded it directly to my headset for playback using the DeoVR app. However, after uploading it to the DeoVR streaming platform, the streaming quality was horrendous. I can render and export my video from DaVinci Resolve using any specifications, but I haven't been able to find the optimal settings.
I’ve seen conflicting advice: some DeoVR blog posts recommend a constant bitrate, while others suggest variable bitrate. Regarding codecs, I’ve read that AV1 is the best, but I have also seen recommendations for H.265. For containers, should I use .mp4 or .mkv? The most recent DeoVR post states: "Export settings: From DaVinci Resolve, use variable bitrate (with a 50 Mbps cap) and the Slow encoding preset, then contact creator@DeoVR.com so we can enable native streaming."
What is the very best setting to achieve the highest streaming quality? It seems like there must be a DeoVR engineer who knows the exact optimal configuration.
