Extremely high GPU usage when idle

Hi there, love the player. However i notice the GPU usage is extremely high compare to our VR players. Even in the menu screen it can reach to 90% (video play is smooth though , no stutter even for 5k videos), but comparable players like whirligig and simple vr player only have 10-20% gpu usage when idle and 40-50% when playing videos.

This is not an isolated case as i saw there is a post on steam board with same problem but no answers given. I am using RTX 2070 card, definitely not a slow gpu issue , while cpu usage is reasonable (5-10% idle 30-40% underload for i5 ). It doesn't make sense that even menu screen use so much gpu to display virtualy black screen ..

thanks, my test showed index at 120hz Gpu on average has 90% gpu usage (no video playing, just in the menu screen with black background, no difference if switch to local file play menu, hence displaying nothing from web, no picture or anything.), if I decrease index to 90hz , GPU usage is about 80%,

in comparison, in alyx half life, the GPU usage is about 75%.

Are you watching 265 codec?
Which processor are you using?

this is happening without watching any video, just enter the app main screen, do not open any video.
my cpu is 9700k, cpu usage is quite low (20% or lower) in the main screen, but GPU usage is 85% above for RTX 2070 super

(watching H.265 or 264 video is fine, when watching video, the gpu usage is about 2-3% higher, about 88%, and cpu usage is about 10% higher, so the problem has nothing to do with codec or video, it's the app UI itself consuming super high GPU resource for no reason, because it is black and doesn't render anything at the point)

Could it be bc it's running Unity?
Exactly what part of the GPU is being used, and which codec(s)? Different apps might be using another codec.
Which 'main screen' are you talking about? File browser, webbrowser?
