By the way what are these 10bit vids ? Which VR studio ?
I wonder can you really see difference with the 8bit vids on these VR set screens am not sure for example Quest 2 IPS screen is 10 bit or its rather 8bit... ? Maybe on some OLED screens you can notice a difference ...
What is your VR set ?
Video lags when playing anything 5K and above
Yar The correct setting of the video codecs installed in the system also matters if we are talking about Windows platforms.
So make them NO matters ! PotPlayer and any good media player has its own integrated codecs and filters - so make DeoVR the same and do not trust to windows codecs and 3rd parity codecs mess ...
Yar
Thanks for pointing it out, but I am more confused now.
If DeoVR relies on Windows codec setup, then why put all the latest ffmpeg files in the plugin folder ?
@boboweb
Uh... Just 10bit videos, doesn't matter from which studio. They are just 7k and 8k, 10bit.
You won't see much difference, just like the difference between regular SDR and HDR. You need a very good LCD panel or OLED panel to see the slight difference. For regular indoor videos, it has no visible differences.
I have a Pimax 5k super. It has regular LCD panels. 8bit and 10bit looks the same.

Not really need to give you titles, right ?
In PiTools the rendering resolution is just 1.0, 90Hz, normal FOV, no smart-smoothing.
In SteamVR it's also 90Hz, auto-render resolution, no motion smoothing, overlay rendering quality is Auto(High).
In all, nothing special or high-res in settings.
@Yar You guys certainly just did something !
Today I use the DeoVR to play previous stutterring 8bit videos, and everything just works fine !!!???
Just like 2 days ago, I have to turn on the "DirectShow" to play those 7k 8bit videos. Now I don't have to. Seems now "DirectShow" off works the best !
