Seems like I found a workaround for DEOVR.
Thought I'd share it here, maybe the devs (or someone else) can replicate this and find a fix with help from my workaround.
First things first, I'm using a Pico 4 Ultra with their latest softwareversion.
Now, for the procedure:
- Sideload DEOVR.
- Open DEOVR.
- If the screen turns black and nothing happens, proceed to step 4, if the DEOVR logo apears proceed to step 10.
- Quit DEOVR.
- Open Appcontrol from the settings on the Pico headset (not sure how it is called in English; in Dutch it is Appbeheer).
- Scroll down to DEOVR and click on it.
- Click on clear cache.
- Close the settingsscreen.
- Open DEOVR.
- DEOVR logo appears for a couple of seconds.
- After the logo dissapears 3 rotating dots appear and nothing happens. They keep spinning.
This is how far I got after sideloading DEOVR.
Now the actual part of working around for what seems to be working for me anyway:
- Open another VR app (do NOT close DEOVR!!) For me opening the webbrowser and going to astalavr.com worked (caution: NSFW!!!)
- Start a movie.
- Click on the VR logo to switch to VR mode.
- Now DEOVR opens a pop-up stating it needs to close or cancel and go back to the app.
- Click on close.
- Watch a movie for a couple of minutes.
- Don't close your browser and go the homescreen of your headset.
- Click on the DEOVR icon on the right side on the bottom of your screen.
- DEOVR wasn't closed allthough I clicked to close in step 16.
- DEOVR is Open and ready to go!!
If you want to go to something like SLR for you know, repeat from step 12.
If you are at step 21 again SLR is ready to go. 😉
Seems very complicated, but all I did was opening DEOVR (and clearing cache if logo doesn't appear), opening a browser and start a movie, switch to VR mode, DEOVR pops up and asked if it should close or cancel and go back to the app, clicked close (which it doesn't), watch the VR movie of choice a minute or so, go back to DEOVR and voila. The 3 dots are not spinning anymore and DEOVR is good to go.
If you need SLR, repeat the last couple of steps.
Long post, sorry, hope it helps someone (and the devs!)
Look more complicated than it is actually.
Worked thrice in a row icing this method for me.
