  • Best 6DOF settings for Alpha

I have been searching and playing alpha videos since I finally got a Quest 3.

The pass-through effect is so great, that I'd say it's almost like the best thing ever happened to VR videos.
At the same time, your experience might be quite different, because of the wrong 6DOF settings. So I want to share my setting here.

Basically if I play a video with alpha , I will turn off the "Override 6DOF settings", because it's not the optimal. When my head moves, the image also moves, which defeat the purpose of 6DOF.

Then I will go to the 6DOF setting and turn it on. The "6DOF speed" setting there is very important. If you set it to 0, the image will move around with your head moving. If you set it to 2, the image might get distorted too much.
My best setting so far is "0.72". There is still some slight movements with the image, but it's quite solid. I feel like the image is right in front of me and it doesn't go left or right.

At that point, I will be able to get better immersive experience by "dragging" the whole screen to the place I like. I will see that the image is like being right there alive.

So what is your setting for 6DOF with Alpha videos ? Did you have similar experience?

Also want to share my setting of green screen videos:
    Hue: 35
    Saturation: 88
    Brightness: 88
Range: 300 to 450 depends on the video
    Falloff: 1000

    According to this:
    https://vr180g.com/passthrough/howtopassthroughvideo.php?l=en
    Their settings are:
    Hue: 33
    Saturation: 78
    Brightness: 100
    Range: 325
    Falloff: 1000

Too bad DeoVR forgot my passthrough color settings every time it exits.
Wish the next version will remember the passthrough color settings.

Yeah, this definitely needs to be fixed.

Hi both, thanks for sharing great feedback on the passthrough settings. Please confirm for me real when you have time – are settings not being saved for online/streaming passthrough videos between sessions, or are you referring to local play?

Sorry that I saw this reply after 7 days.
The color setting of passthrough is saved only by the file basis. If I set a video to be green screen passthrough, next time I play this video, DeoVR will remember it and play it correctly.
However, if I exit the program and run it again, DeoVR will forget about the previous transparent color and revert it to black as the default.
So to get a new video to play with green-screen passthrough, I either play a previous video which already set the green passthrough color, or I need to set the green color for that new video.

I play local videos most of the time, recently I started to use a local DLNA server because it's the only way to make Alpha work. This is not a report about online video problem.
