I am interested in creating passthrough videos, but the current method of creating an alpha channel is not user-friendly at all. I can easily render out videos with an alpha channel built-in and ideally, DeoVR should be able to detect that alpha channel and display my video automatically in passthrough mode. Alternatively, allowing users to upload an alpha matte or luma matte file with ANY video will allow the video to play back with a background or in passthrough mode. Then the viewer can click a button on any video that has the included matte to view the video in passthrough.
The current DeoVR alpha solution seems to only work with fisheye lens videos and requires creating a matte in the red channel. This seems like an inefficient process when video codecs such as ProRes 4444 (with alpha) have existed for several years.
