Yar There is no way to fully fix image drifting unfortunately, since phones only use gyros, and the only time someone took care to develop a decent experience with gyros-only was the Oculus Go which is now discontinued.
So if I want to watch a movie at night with no lights I have to use the phone. The best solution i've found is an auto-recenter feature. Look "VR Home Teather" app by blevok as an example. It auto recenters every 2 minuters or whenever you want, so you don't have to constantly move your head and point to "recenter" button or either press a button on your gamepad (and this app doesn't support android gamepads but still that would be annoying compared to have it automatically happen)
There is an huge market for "Gear VR" refugees and drifting could be solved with something like this for those of us that use phones. The problem with VR Home Teather app is that it doesn't play 5k videos, you can't customize X/Y offsets etc, overall DeoVR is more polished, however the auto recenter feature is so useful I don't see how this isn't added for phone users specially this would take like 5 minutes to code.
